Posted on August 10, 2018August 9, 2018

It feels good when you finally decide to purchase your first home. However, things are not that easy. The first thing that you need to do is to choose an area. You can investigate on your own. The good news is that there are many locations across the island. Each location has their own appeal and unique attractions, good transportation, eating options and excellent shopping.

Do not despair. Here are some places you can consider:

Orchard Road
Orchard area boasts of easy access to restaurants, hotels, shopping malls, health and beauty centers and cinemas. This area is dense and active. Rents are higher here because it is considered a prime location with access to public transport, the CBD (Central Business District) and CTE (Central Island Expressway).

Tanglin

This area is home to many embassies. With this, Tanglin is considered a prestigious area. There are many types of properties. Like in Orchard Road, properties here are expensive. It is a good area though because it offers access to AYE (Ayer Rajah Expressway), Botanic Gardens and Orchard Road.

River Valley
River Valley has a high concentration of high-rise condominium buildings. It is close to the river, thus the name. Condos and apartments here have great amenities. There’s a 24-hour FairPrice Finest here near the Great World City shopping center.

Holland Village
Holland Village is actually a favorite area for expats. It has a multitude of cafes, restaurants, health and beauty centers, and bars. The area offers easy access to Orchard Road, Botanic Gardens, and even the MRT station.

Serangoon
Serangoon is a popular area for families. It is near international schools like French and Australian International Schools. It has a relaxed vibe offering spacious condominiums.

Woodlands
Many choose Woodlands because the houses here are big and reasonably priced. The area has this suburban vibe because it is leafy. There are big malls with cinemas and restaurants. Woodlands is actually one of the two access points going to Malaysia. It is just across Johor Bahru.

East Coast
East Coast area is from Kallang to Loyang and Changi Airport. This area is popular because condominiums are spacious and reasonably priced.

Bukit Timah
Many people love Bukit Timah because of the greenery scene. As a matter of fact, this area is known for its high concentration of rainforests. This is where the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve sits on. The area is good for couples without kids, retirees, families, nature lovers and professionals with restaurants, banks, fitness centers, grocery markets, and shops around.

If you are serious about Bukit Timah, you need to watch out for the Mayfair Gardens launch. Oxley Holdings developed the property. It is situated off the Bukit Timah Road and the Dunearn Road. It is close to schools like Nanyang Primary School, Nanyang Girls’ High School, Methodists Girls’ Primary and Secondary School and Hwa Chong Junior College.

Alternatively, you can also consider real estate agents to help you choose the best place according to your preference and lifestyle. They will also assist you in the process of purchasing your first home.
